Uncertainty school explores the potentialities which can not be expressed with the language from the world of certainties. The curriculum focuses on contemporary art, technology and disability. The school aims to unlearn the hegemony of normalcy and the values that exclude anyone who’s considered ‘the other’ because of difference. The participants, faculties and students, include artists with disabilities and anyone who work with the minorities. As a community of artists, teachers, students and organizers, we will make art for people of all abilities, and learn to embrace interdependence. Considering the diversity of disabilities among the participants, the school will provide equal access to communication and mobility for the participants, including but not limited to, Sign language interpretation, Communication Access Realtime Translation, Braille print, and wheel-chair access.
Uncertainty school will begin with a series of workshops on digital technology, exhibition techniques, and discourse of contemporary art. The seminars will feature international artists who are exhibition at the Mediacity Seoul Biennale, and the artists will present their working method, concepts and discuss about the issues of digital technology, body and disability. From these experience, the participants will create a group exhibition with their work at the Community gallery in Buk Seoul Museum of Art. The participants will also lead tours of the Biennale and the group exhibition to specific communities and the general public. Uncertainty school imagines the future of the museum as an accessible public institution, artists as an instigator for social justice and a biennale as a resource for participatory pedagogy.

SeMA biennale Mediacity Seoul
확실한 학교는 확실성의 세계의 언어로는 표현될수 없는 잠재력을 탐구하는 학교이다. 예술, 기술, 그리고 장애의 관계에 초점을 둔 수업내용은 배타적인 가치관과 정상성의 헤게모니의 탈학습을 목적으로 한다. 불확실한 학교는 모든 사람에게 열려있지만, 특히 장애인이거나 사회적 소수자, 지역사회와 함께 활동하는 교수, 학생, 작가들을 핵심 참가자로 선정한다. 참가자와 작가들은 함께 배움의 공동체를 형성하여 장애인에게 열린 미술관의 미래를 구상한다. 기획팀은 참가자의 다양한 장애유형들을 고려하여 수화 통역, 문자통역/속기, 그리고 점자/확대본 자료들을 제공하고, 휠체어 사용자 혹은 지체장애인들이 접근 가능한 공간에서 진행 될 예정이다.
불확실한 학교의 시작은 창작 활동에 도움이 될 디지털 기술, 전시 방법, 그리고 현대 미술 작품을 전시하는 형식과 담론에 대한 강연을 진행한다. 세미나는 미디어시티 서울에 참여하는 국제적 작가들을 강사로 섭외해서 현대 미술에서의 디지털 기술, 신체, 장애의 접목에 대해 대화할 예정이다. 참가자들은 이 경험들을 바탕으로 자신의 작업과 동시에 다른 작가들과의 새로운 협업을 통해 북서울미술관 커뮤니티 갤러리에서 그룹 전시를 선보인다. 비엔날레 기간 동안에는 불확실한 학교의 참가자들이 도슨트(전시 안내인)가 되어 전시를 소개하는 투어 프로그램도 진행할 예정이다
